CULTURAL DIVERSITY MODULE
|
| |
Europe is a diverse continent that cherishes cultural differences and aims to value individuals free from prejudice in a context of equity and mutual respect.
This module is focused on the role of culture in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Teachers will gain a preliminary understanding of the foundational concepts of culture and cultural dimensions and they will become aware of the impact of their students’ cultural background on successful language learning. More particularly, teachers will be able to:
- Explore their students’ cultural background
- Define culture and understand cultural dimensions in EFL
- Compare and discuss cultural differences beyond the classroom
- Gain understanding of World Englishes
- Examine EFL materials on stereotyping and cultural misunderstandings
